Privacy Policy
Our approach
Yohita (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates HotSeat.im at hotseat.im. We designed the product so you can participate in a live session without creating an account. We do not ask for your email address, phone number, password, or payment details to use the core service.
This policy explains what limited information may be processed when you visit the site or join a live room, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, reach us through yohita.com.
What we do not collect
- No user accounts, registration, or login credentials
- No mailing lists or marketing profiles tied to your identity
- No sale or rental of personal information to advertisers or data brokers
- No requirement to install an app or connect a social profile
Information you choose to share in a session
When you join a live room, you may voluntarily provide a display name and, if you wish, an optional selfie or quiz responses. This information exists to power the live experience for that room — for example, showing names on a leaderboard or reactions on screen. Hosts control their own sessions; we do not use session nicknames to identify you outside that room.
Hosts may export session summaries or recap cards that include participant display names and scores from their event. What a host does with that export is up to them; please use good judgment about what name or photo you share in a public room.
Information stored on your device
To make rejoining smoother, your browser may store a random identifier and your chosen display name in localStorage or sessionStorage. These values are generated on your device, are not linked to a real-world identity on our side, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
Server and technical data
Like most web services, our servers receive standard connection data needed to deliver the product and keep it reliable — for example, IP address, browser type, device category, and language preferences. We use this only for operating the service, preventing abuse, and troubleshooting — not for advertising profiles.
Live session data (room state, leaderboard, quiz answers, and optional selfies) is stored while a session is active so the room works in real time. We do not retain this data indefinitely for marketing or profiling purposes.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (such as which pages are visited and general traffic patterns). Analytics data is used to improve the product, not to build individual user profiles. You can limit analytics collection through browser extensions, ad blockers, or Google's opt-out tools.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage where needed for basic site functionality and analytics. We do not use cookies to track you across unrelated websites for targeted advertising.
Children
HotSeat.im is intended for live events and group settings, often run by a host (teacher, organizer, or speaker). Hosts are responsible for ensuring participation is appropriate for their audience. We do not knowingly create accounts for children because we do not operate an account system at all.
Your rights and choices
Because we do not operate login accounts, most controls are in your hands: choose what name or photo to share, leave a room at any time, and clear site data in your browser. If you have a privacy question or want help with data related to a specific session, contact us through yohita.com with the room code and approximate date.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws (such as access, correction, or deletion). We will honor reasonable requests to the extent we can verify them and the data still exists.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of HotSeat.im after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Terms of Service
Agreement
By accessing or using HotSeat.im, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy above. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
HotSeat.im provides real-time audience engagement tools — including spotlights, reactions, quizzes, and leaderboards — for live events, classrooms, meetings, and similar group settings. Features may change as the product evolves; we may add, modify, or remove functionality, especially while the product is in beta.
No accounts; session access
Access is room-based. Anyone with a valid room code may join as an audience member; hosts create and control sessions. You are responsible for keeping room codes private if you do not want uninvited guests. We are not responsible for who a host shares a code with.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for unlawful, harassing, hateful, or abusive content or conduct
- Upload material you do not have the right to share, or that violates others' privacy
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or reverse engineer the service
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
- Use the service to send spam or malware
We may suspend or restrict access to protect the service or other users, with or without notice, when we believe these terms have been violated.
Host responsibilities
If you host a session, you are responsible for the content you display, the questions you ask, and how you use participant information (including any exports). You must have any rights needed for content you upload and must comply with applicable laws in your venue, school, or organization.
Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit (such as a display name, selfie, or quiz answer). You grant us a limited license to host, display, and process that content solely to operate the live session and related features (for example, showing your name on a leaderboard). We do not claim ownership of your content beyond what is needed to run the service.
Intellectual property
HotSeat.im, its branding, software, and documentation are owned by Yohita and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks except as part of normal use of the product.
Beta service
HotSeat.im is offered on a free, beta basis. The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features, limits, and availability may change without notice.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements or that results from a live session will be accurate or preserved forever.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yohita and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of HotSeat.im. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars — which, for the free beta, means fifty US dollars.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Yohita from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using HotSeat.im at any time. We may discontinue or restrict the service, or terminate access for conduct that violates these terms or harms the platform.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable where Yohita operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of HotSeat.im shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in that location, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
